Project Description

The “Report on Risks Induced by a Further Increase in the rate of Import VAT on Works of Art”  was produced with the joint efforts of the three main organisations representing the art trade in France: CDG (Comité Professionnel des Galeries d’Art), SYMEV (Syndicat National des Maisons de Ventes Volontaires )and SNA (Syndicat National des Antiquaires). As the government proposed an increase in import VAT on art, these associations commissioned research to show the detrimental effects this could have on the French art market, and to focus on the fiscal contribution of art sales to the French economy.
